Northcentral Connect is the new high-speed internet affiliate of Northcentral Electric Cooperative. Founded in 1950, Northcentral Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric power distribution cooperative. We are a distributor of TVA electricity serving eastern DeSoto County, western Marshall County, and small areas in Tate and Lafayette counties.

Our mission is to be the leading provider of innovative solutions committed to service, reliability, and community. We are continually seeking and providing innovative solutions for our communities by upholding values of safety, continuous improvement, integrity, accountability, and being locally-owned and community-invested.

In 2020, we are proud to launch Northcentral Connect and bring fiber connectivity to families, farmers, businesses, and schools in our community. Why is the speed test result much lower than the advertised 1 GB speed?

Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, etc.) do not have the capability to create enough simultaneous test sessions which is necessary to provide accurate results for connections over 100 Mbps. In addition, testing from an older Wi-Fi combination may also show a lower speed since most common Wi-Fi adapters are limited to 300-400 Mbps. Newer Wi-fi technologies such as Wi-Fi 6/6e will allow for speed results close to or above 1Gbps. The Speedtest.net browser extension will show better speeds but not as good as the Windows Application. You need to use an application such as the Speedtest.net Windows program installed on your computer on a hardwired 1 GB connection to do a proper test.
